We take careful measures to ensure that all travelers enjoy a safe and comfortable trip.

We are proud of our safety record and we will continue to take the necessary precautions and preventive measures to ensure that risks are controlled and safety is never compromised.

Austral Group program managers and group leaders are carefully selected based on their level of professional judgment, experience, competency and client service. Every team member at the Austral Group is fully trained in accordance with the guidelines and principles in our comprehensive Risk Management Guide. Knowing that problems do arise on occasion, Austral Group takes precautionary actions to anticipate and prevent complications during your study program, including:

  • An on-staff Risk Management Supervisor, who oversees all aspects of health, safety and security for the Austral Group and our clients. We carry USD $10 million of liability insurance to protect each university and its participants, with an option to be listed as an additional insured on our policy additional insured. An additional travel assistance policy with ACE Travel Assistance. Professionally trained and experienced Program Managers and Austral Group Trip Leaders, including instruction in CPR, First Aid and emergency response.
  • Partnerships with thoroughly vetted hotels that have on-call physicians available 24/7 to tend to participants as necessary. Our logistics team works with the most established and reliable transport services and tourism providers, who prioritize safety as much as we do, with frequent and thorough safety vetting by our Risk Management Supervisor.
  • All travelers receive a trip preparation manual containing information for a healthy and safe international trip. Upon arrival, we conduct an in-depth orientation session that covers health and safety practices and emergency procedures.
  • All travelers from the United States are automatically registered in the U.S. Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
  • Ongoing communication with Austral Group’s Risk Management Advisory Committee comprised of several global experts in risk management, to optimize our policies and protocols to ensure that we design and organize safe and risk preventative trips.
