Emergency surgery for a Trip Leader

Within 24 hours of arriving to Santiago, Chile with a group of 24 MBA students, the group's Trip Leader reported severe and sharp abdominal pains. Our team rushed her to an emergency room where she was hospitalized immediately. Diagnosed with severe kidney stones, the Trip Leader underwent emergency invasive surgery.

Austral Group response:

Austral Group staff took turns to accompany the Trip Leader during her entire hospitalization, to keep her company and to assist. In addition, we stepped in to help manage the group of MBA students, many of whom were traveling internationally for the first time. The trip proceeded as scheduled to its 2nd destination in Mendoza, Argentina, and thankfully the Trip Leader recovered fully within a few days to rejoin the students later in the trip.
