With well-developed agricultural, mining, manufacturing, energy and finance industries, Brazil is the 7th largest economy in the world, placing it just ahead of two BRIC counterparts, Russia and India. Since the early 2000’s, the country has steadily improved its macroeconomic stability by developing its foreign reserves and creating an inviting environment for increased foreign direct investment. Despite recent economic and political turmoil, the country continues to stand as a world leader in the size and scope of its economic power. Brazil has recently been featured on the global athletic stage by hosting the World Cup soccer championship in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016.
